Design notes: The original Schienenzeppelin, is a perfectly balanced shape. It looked so universally good on so many faces, Moss decided to do a second version, enhanced with subtle sculptural elements.

 

Behold the the Schienenzeppelin RS.

 

RS stand for "recessed sculpted", and refers to the shadow box bevel surrounding the lens apertures. As you can see, the play of reflected light between the straight recess of the bevel and the convex curve of the lenses creates visual intrigue. It adds style and depth. The slightly wider surfaces also show the beautifully polished acetates to great advantage. All while retaining the original's simple lines that were drawn to flatter.
